First-time voter? Here's the whole thing

You can vote in London's 2026 municipal election if, on voting day, you:

1. Live in London, or own or rent property here, or are the spouse of someone who does;
2. Are a Canadian citizen;
3. Are at least 18 years old; and
4. Are not prohibited from voting by law.

If you tick all four boxes, this election is yours. If you're a student living in London for school, you may be able to vote both here and in your home municipality, as long as you qualify in each.

London directs voters to Elections Ontario's Register to Vote service. Go to registertovoteon.ca or call 1-866-242-3025 to check, add, or update your information. Elections Ontario maintains the register that London's voters' list is built from.

Do it early. A correct listing means a faster trip through the voting place, and checking now beats finding a problem at the poll in October.

It's quicker than renewing a health card. You walk in, an election official checks you against the voters' list and looks at your ID, and you get a ballot. You mark it in private, behind a screen. Nobody, including the officials, sees how you vote. Then the ballot goes in the box and you're done. Most people are in and out in minutes.

Bring a document that shows your name and your London address. A photo is not required. A driver's licence works, and so does a utility bill, a lease, a bank statement, or a campus residence document.
